CONCORD, NH – A new non-partisan non-profit, the First In The Nation (FITN) Presidential Primary Committee, has been established as a 501(c)(4) organization to champion the preservation of New Hampshire’s historic role in Presidential politics. The committee is dedicated to upholding the state’s century-long tradition as the nation’s first primary, a critical early test for Presidential candidates.

“We are proud to support the over 100-year tradition of our critical vetting process that retail campaigning in NH provides,” said committee member Kate Day.

The FITN Presidential Primary Committee is actively organizing events, stakeholder receptions, and primary support tracking for potential candidates. The group will also promote New Hampshire’s unique role through op-eds, essay contests, and a comprehensive primer for Presidential campaigns.

Janan Archibald, Vice President of the committee, emphasized the state’s unique qualifications: “Our politically active citizenry, low barrier to entry, high voter turn-out, and small geographical area make New Hampshire a perfect early barometer for Presidential candidates.”

Recent developments signal strong support for maintaining New Hampshire’s FITN status. On August 20, New Hampshire’s Committeeman Bill O’Brien was elevated to Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) Rules Committee, a move viewed as a positive step for preserving the state’s primary prominence on the Republican side.

Additionally, in May, the Democratic National Committee announced that New Hampshire would gain an extra seat on its Rules and Bylaws Committee, with the position reportedly designated for New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley.

The committee is also engaging with key political figures to gauge their stance on New Hampshire’s primary status. On Friday, Senator Ruben Gallego (D-Arizona) will attend the Politics and Eggs breakfast at Saint Anselm College.

“In the past Senator Gallego has disparaged the FITN process – we’re hopeful that this visit is a sign he’s beginning to understand New Hampshire’s importance and that he’ll support our first in the nation status after his visit tomorrow,” said Kate Day. The FITN Presidential Primary Committee invites all who value New Hampshire’s unique role in the American republic to join its efforts to preserve this storied tradition.
